Be positive!. Stress

Of course children… work… social relationships… the house… the shopping… the meeting… daily life can be very stressful and little by little undermine your energy... To avoid this, you have to give yourself a break and consider three simple steps to follow.

First step: evaluate

  1. What situation causes you most worry?
  2. Do you think about it constantly?
  3.  Is there anything which makes you sad or depressed?

Second step: review your lifestyle

  1. Eat healthily.
  2. Sleep well.
  3. Exercise regularly.
  4. Limit your consumption of tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or other drugs.
  5. Practice relaxation techniques.
  6. Take breaks at work.
  7. Dedicate time to your friends and family.

Third step: ask for help

Find someone you can confide in (friend, family member, neighbour, work colleague…) who knows how to listen, since often the simple fact of talking with a friend or loved one is all you need to help calm anxiety. If the situation overwhelms you, see your doctor.

Stress predisposes you to having poorer mental and physical health (infection, heart disease, depression, etc.). Persistent stress is associated with anxiety and harmful behaviour such as overeating or consuming alcohol or drugs.
